What is the average annual SaaS spend by company size?

Companies with fewer than 100 employees averaged €350K a year. The figure rises to €600K at 100 to 200 employees and €900K at 200 to 350.

Above 350 employees, spend moves into the millions. Companies with 350 to 500 employees averaged €2.2M, those with 500 to 800 averaged €3.3M, and enterprises with 800 or more averaged €4.1M.

These are averages within each size band, calculated after companies with extreme spending patterns were removed so they wouldn't skew the results.

What is a normal SaaS spend per employee?

Per head, Najar's benchmark found that high-growth companies may go from an annual SaaS cost of €2,500 per employee to more than €5,900 as they grow from 100 to 1,500 people.

So a company spending around €4,000 per employee sits inside that range. Where you should sit within it depends on your size and on your sector, since spend per employee varies widely between industries.

Where does SaaS spend rise fastest?

Between 350 and 500 employees. Moving from the 200 to 350 band into the 350 to 500 band adds €1.3M to the average annual bill, the largest increase between any two neighbouring size bands in the report.

The report explains what changes at that stage. Smaller teams run lean, high-impact stacks built on a few core tools that deliver immediate value. As a business scales, new needs arrive, including cross-team collaboration, security and control, and spend rises sharply along with the variety of tools.

For a finance lead at a company approaching 350 people, that's the moment to set the rules on who buys software, who approves it and which tools belong in the core stack. As the report puts it, clarity now avoids chaos later.

What happens at enterprise scale?

Enterprises with 800 or more employees averaged €4.1M a year. At that size, the report sees the priority move from adding tools to taming the sprawl, with consolidation and integration as the new north stars.
